Mike Carson

Michael R. Carson got his first big break at Florida Power and Light just as they were pursuing the coveted internationally recognized Deming Prize. His talent and initiative within the Total Quality Management efforts at FPL landed him a job as the Project Director for an international consulting firm. In his first year, he personally delivered $1.1 million of billable days. His consulting included such clients as AT&T International, Griswold Foundry, City of Fort Collins, PAC Bell, and Bank of Ireland. During this time, he received his Master Black Belt and was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Universities to issue continuing education units in Lean Six Sigma. 

While he was experiencing tremendous success abroad, his young family was missing their Dad. Mike decided to lead a quieter life in the mountains of North Carolina. It didn’t take long until he was working as the Quality Manager for Associated Packaging. His innovations and improvements were so beneficial to the company that they asked him to design their European Division from scratch. It was satisfying to move from consultant to getting his hands dirty on the plant floor. 

One of the most interesting jobs he had while living in the mountains was running French Broad Brewery. By innovating and focusing on the customer, he was able to increase the value of the company from $200,000 to $1.7 million within 18 months. He was able to readily apply his experiences to a service industry. 

With his children seeking their own adventures, Mike is now ready to embark on a new adventure of his own. After reading a book authored by his former FPL colleague, (Mike Fedotowsky) he raced to join forces with Maximum Potential, Inc. It was the perfect fit with all of his previous experiences and he wanted to get those expensive suits out of the closet.
